Imani had promised to deliver the restored brass telescope before the museum opened, yet one faint scratch still crossed its polished case. The scratch was visible only when morning light struck at an angle, and repairing it might damage the original finish. Imani packed the tools away, then unpacked them. At the door, the curator called that the display labels were ready. Imani ran a thumb beside the scratch without touching it and carried the brass telescope downstairs. When the curator admired the repair, Imani pointed out the remaining mark before anyone else could notice it. The curator studied it and said that preserving the original surface mattered more than making the object appear new. Only then did Imani release the breath held since leaving the workshop.
